Making a Living / Making a Life
As you grow,
you pass your years doing stuff that would take you to a better living- job,
salary, luxuries- basically a life. But what you actually do is, leave behind
the life you loved and wanted for a life you should be leading to ‘live’. And
the irony is that from there on, you hardly live.
You leave your friends and parents
to get education; thinking that it will help you to lead a respectful life. For
a further better degree, you again leave the fun filled days to once again lead
a more respectful life. Finally, now you seek a job that pays you well, doesn't
matter if it is letting you live your dreams or not- at least you’ll have a
more respectful life.
Here again starts the struggle to
get more than what others have. And when finally you have acquired all you
wanted, you sit on your chair thinking of the days you were scolded by a
teacher in front of the whole class and thereafter laughing at your friend’s
joke ‘teri bhi koi izzat hai, jo bezati hogi’; wishing to live those moments
again.
So you see, you traveled this far
to get some respect while all you wanted were some good companions with whom you can laugh your heart out even if you
are being insulted. Naturally, you can’t stick to the same people whole of your
life, everyone will move on like you’ll do.
But sometimes,
you can stop and do what makes you happy not thinking once what others expect from
you or what they’ll think of you or what you ought to do. In that ‘sometime’
just let yourself free because in the journey called ‘life’, there is no
reverse gear. And in the end, you will never be able to count the amount of
money you have gathered or the size of bungalow you have built. And when you can’t
count these material things, let the moments lived too remain uncountable.
